When I first set out to create my holistic therapy business, years back, when I first completed my massage training, I had a vision of calm healing sessions and a peaceful, zen-like life, making a difference and helping others.
Think of a head full of unicorns, glitter and rainbows!
And while these beautiful moments absolutely do exist, the truth is that behind the scenes, building a holistic therapy business and turning a passion for healing into a living is a rollercoaster of growth, self-discovery and determination.
If you've ever wondered what it's really like to build a career in holistic therapy and energy healing and what it truly takes, let me share the outline of my journey: the highs, the struggles and everything in between.

What It’s Really Like Building a Holistic Therapy and Energy Healing Business
Train, Learn, Grow
I honestly had no idea how much training lay ahead when I first started this journey and completed my massage qualification.
Over the years, I've immersed myself in additional therapy qualifications, teaching qualifications, and years of essential oil and aromatherapy studies, eventually leading to a clinical aromatherapy level.
Alongside this, I’ve spent countless hours completing CPD courses, continually finding ways to deepen my skills and expand what I can offer in my holistic healing sessions.
Whether I have been exploring new trauma release techniques, refining meditation practices, or developing energy-based approaches to healing, I am constantly learning because I want to offer the best possible support to my clients.
Holistic therapy isn’t just a job - it’s a way of life and a lifelong commitment to growth, both for myself and for the people I work with.
Behind the Scenes – Big Dreams
While my main love is working directly with clients, a big part of my work happens behind the scenes. The work certainly doesn’t stop when the Relax Room door closes.
I’m often studying, brainstorming new ways to elevate what I offer, creating new services, writing manuals and courses, and figuring out ways to make sessions even more effective and transformative.
I’m always thinking about how I can take things to the next level and support deeper emotional healing and personal transformation.
It’s definitely not always easy. Some days I feel stuck, unsure of the next step, or battling the familiar voice of imposter syndrome when it rears its head.
My Toughest Battle – Confidence
One of the hardest parts of this journey has been facing my own fears.
Moving my work online, for example, is a huge challenge for me.
“Will people judge me? Will they think I’m good enough?”
These fears have been massive blocks at times and have stopped me from stepping fully into the online world.
What I am learning, though, is that confidence doesn’t come before action; it comes through taking action.
Every time I push through a moment of self-doubt, I grow a little more.
And yes, I still have fears to conquer. I’m simply tackling them one at a time and learning to walk alongside the fear instead of letting it rule me.
Website Building and Social Media - Stress and Mess!
Running a holistic therapy business in today’s digital world means building an online presence too.
Creating my website, Sacred Soulutions, feels a bit like building an extension of myself. It needs to feel welcoming, warm, professional and authentic all at the same time.
It’s a huge task - and a constant massive work in progress - because I’m doing it all myself, making mistakes and learning as I go along. Keeping everything updated sometimes feels never-ending!
Then there’s social media, which can feel like a full-time job in itself. Sharing my message about holistic healing, creating content and staying consistent while remaining true to myself is a delicate balancing act.
But when someone tells me a post inspired them, or they booked a healing session because they found my website, it makes the eternal hamster wheel feel worthwhile. Because it means I’ve reached someone who needed it.
Supporting Clients Beyond the Sessions
As I mentioned before, work doesn’t finish when the Relax Room door closes. Being a holistic therapist isn’t a simple nine-to-five job.
Clients’ needs don’t always fit neatly into a schedule, and sometimes that means answering messages late in the evening or checking in with someone after a big emotional breakthrough.
It can mean spending hours researching between sessions to prepare the best possible approach for someone’s specific situation.
The work goes far beyond the therapy session itself. It’s about being there for people in a way that is supportive, compassionate and authentic, while still honouring healthy boundaries. It can be challenging at times, but it is also incredibly rewarding.
Finding Your Tribe
One of the greatest joys on this journey is connecting with people who truly resonate with my work - clients, colleagues and other like-minded souls walking their own healing path.
But if I’m being completely honest, it isn’t always smooth sailing.
Sometimes the unicorns and glitter turn into warthogs and mud bombs (no offence to warthogs - I’m sure they’re very cute!).
I’ve experienced jealousy, ideas being copied and the occasional betrayal that feels like a punch in the gut. It’s hard not to let those things shake your confidence.
But over time, I’ve learned something important: no one can do what I do in the way that I do it. My energy, my experience and the way I hold space for others are unique. As the saying trending around at the moment goes - “Let them.” Let them do what they need to do, while you focus on your own path and the souls who genuinely support you.
The Sacred Relax Room
My therapy room is my sanctuary, and I treat it with the care and love it deserves. It’s probably the cleanest room in my house!
The space is regularly cleansed energetically, crystals are cleaned, and intentions are set to keep the energy clear and welcoming.
Every detail, the blankets, the layout, the scents and lighting, is chosen carefully to help clients feel safe, relaxed and nurtured during their healing sessions.
Creating and maintaining this sacred space is an act of love, both for my clients and for myself.
The Emotional Weight
This work is incredibly fulfilling and rewarding, but it can also carry a deep emotional weight.
Holding space for clients as they process trauma, grief or life challenges requires resilience and strong personal grounding.
That’s why self-care for a holistic therapist isn’t optional - it’s essential.
Grounding practices, meditation, energy clearing, protection rituals and my own healing sessions all help me stay balanced and present so I can support others without carrying the emotional weight of their journey.
Magic Moments
There’s something truly special about seeing a client leave a session feeling lighter, more peaceful or inspired to take the next step on their healing journey. Those moments fill my heart with gratitude and remind me why I started all of this.
They are the sparks that keep me moving forward and make even the toughest days feel a little softer.
If you’re a client - or someone thinking about becoming one - I want you to know how much care, training and thought go into creating the best possible heart-centred healing experience. Your well-being is always at the heart of everything I do at Sacred Soulutions.
If you're a fellow holistic therapist struggling along the way, remember that building a holistic therapy business is a beautiful mix of challenges and rewards. It takes patience, courage and a lot of love.
For me, it’s about holding space for others while continually growing and evolving myself. Through my work at Sacred Soulutions in Halstead, Essex, I now offer holistic healing sessions that combine energy work, meditation, and essential oils to support emotional well-being and personal transformation.
Facing fears. Navigating setbacks. Celebrating the small wins.
If you’re walking this path too, I see you.
It may not always be easy - but it is absolutely worth it.
Keep going. Keep growing.
And remember that you are making a difference in ways you may never fully realise.
With love and sparkles
Vicci xXx
